We are finally moving again on house projects. We have 81 boxes of strand woven bamboo sitting in our dining room, and the rest of our house is a disaster as we prepared to start on our new projects.
Next Round of Projects
- Paint all the bedrooms and hallway
- Have French doors put in between one of the bedrooms and the foyer to make a study
- Have popcorn ceilings scraped and redone
- Install (yes, us) strand-woven bamboo
I absolutely cannot wait to see how much better the house looks with these updates. The popcorn ceiling sounds silly, but I hate it and can't wait for it to be gone. Unfortunately, we have to completely empty the rooms when the ceilings are scraped and refloated. They are going to start with the back of the house (the bedrooms besides one that is turning into the study) and then do the living areas. I am going to pack up everything that is loose in the bedrooms this weekend, so it is easier to shuffle everything around. We probably won't finish the floors before the ceiling is done, so we might have to shuffle everything around again as we finish the floors.
We started working last weekend. In the last week, we have emptied out our "junk room," pulled up the carpeting, and painted the walls gray. We donated and tossed a ton of stuff but still have a bunch of stuff from that room in the other two extra bedrooms. Below are photos that I look last weekend (before tearing out the carpeting and painting the walls). We are going to finish painting the trim and try to install the flooring in there tomorrow. I'm nervous about all of the work ahead of us but am sure that it will be extremely rewarding when we are done. Hopefully, we won't hurt ourselves.
